One of the most popular cosmetic procedures opted for by patients today are breast procedures. Among other breast procedures we offer at Howland Plastic Surgery, breast reduction is the surgical method that addresses the many complications of excessively large breasts. If you are struggling with significantly large breasts that cause medical issues like constant shoulder, neck and back pain, the breast reduction procedure is your best option. With large breasts, it becomes difficult to exercise, and you may lose confidence in your appearance. Fitting into clothes is difficult, and it could further reduce your self-image. Dr. Howland understands breast reduction is not simply a surgical procedure to enhance your appearance, but it is also a great option to restore your emotional and psychological wellbeing.

Why do women choose breast reduction?

When you have breasts that are too large in proportion to the rest of your torso, it can be difficult to find shirts, swimsuits, or bras that fit well. Some additional issues include chafing of the skin under your breast crease and bra straps digging into your shoulder. These are some of the physical concerns for our patients seeking breast reduction. The self-consciousness due to a large bosom makes women avoid social situations and this affects the quality of their life too.

Dr. Howland offers breast reduction to reduce the size of your breasts so that they are in proportion with the rest of your body. You will not lose the hourglass figure you had, but your breasts will become more manageable. The procedure undoubtedly helps with alleviating the emotional and physical discomfort caused by your large breasts.

Are you a good candidate for the breast reduction procedure?

You must be in good physical and mental health to undergo breast reduction. It is also important that you speak with Dr. Howland to understand the procedure well and have realistic expectations from it. Like any other cosmetic procedure, it is essential that you undergo breast reduction for yourself and not to please somebody else.

A good candidate has breasts that are so large that they cause discomfort and physical activities are difficult. Most of our patients from Holladay are suffering from skin irritation under the crease or due to the pressure on the bra straps. Your breasts may also hang low with drooping nipples and large areolas, most women have stretch marks on their breasts as well. When you speak with Dr. Howland during the consultation, he will evaluate your breasts and talk to you in order to determine whether you are a good candidate for breast reduction.

We understand that most of our women patients who are struggling with large breasts are usually facing depression and low self-esteem. It is our aim to help you regain your comfort and confidence with well contoured and manageable breasts. Dr. Howland aims at getting you the desired physical comfort and to help you get rid of any emotional distress you were undergoing due to excessively large breasts.
