Deciding to have a breast augmentation can be life-changing! Once you’ve made your decision, your procedure journey can begin. You’ll be seeing your plastic surgeon a lot during the process, so choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon in Draper you trust is very important. Here’s what you can expect over the course of your journey for enhanced breasts.

What to Expect Breast Augmentation

The Initial Consultation

There are a lot of decisions that go into having a breast augmentation in Salt Lake City from implant size, shape, texture, and placement options. Although you should arrive at your consultation with some ideas for your new breasts in mind, you won’t be expected to make all of these decisions on your own. During your initial consultation, your plastic surgeon will examine your breasts, discuss your concerns and goals, and determine the best course of treatment. Your surgeon will go over your unique procedure process and answer any questions you might have.

Pre-Op Appointment

When you schedule your surgery day, you will also be asked to schedule a pre-op appointment. During this time your surgeon will go into more detail about what will happen the day of surgery and how you should prepare. You will also receive your prescriptions, so you can have them filled before your procedure day. This is a great time to ask any final questions you might have about your breast augmentation.

Surgery Day

When the day finally comes, you will arrive one hour before your scheduled surgery. Make sure you bring a friend or family member who can assist you when you wake up and drive you home. A nurse will explain your post-op care instructions to you and your caregiver. Once you are in the operating room, you will be hooked to an IV to have your anesthesia or sedation delivered. Your procedure should take about an hour, but you won’t remember any of it! Once you wake up, you will be bandaged and sent to recovery at home.

Post-Op Appointments

After your procedure, you will have a series of post-op appointments to check on your healing and results. You will meet back with your surgeon the day after surgery to check your bandages and ensure you have begun healing properly without any severe pain. You will likely have another appointment around one week after surgery. At this time, your incision site will be checked again, and you will be given more instructions on how to care for your surgical scars. You will still be swollen at this point, but you might begin to see the results of your surgery. Your final appointment will happen around three months following surgery. Your final results will be noticeable, and you will have pictures taken for your after photos if you would like to show off your beautiful before and after results!.
