Brazilian Butt Lift in Draper, Salt Lake City, UT
What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
A Brazilian butt Lift is a buttock augmentation procedure done using fat transfer. Unlike other buttock augmentation techniques, like buttock implants, a Brazilian butt Lift requires minimal downtime and produces natural-looking results.
The Brazilian Butt Lift can help to achieve many aesthetic improvements, including:
- Enhanced curves in the lower body.
- Reduced fat pockets on the hips, thighs, or belly.
- Creates a more youthful shape.
- Enhances proportions by improving the balance between the upper and lower body.
Who is a Good Candidate?
If you are unhappy with the shape or size of your buttocks and wish to improve the overall balance of your figure, you may be able to benefit from a Brazilian butt Lift. Those who wish to avoid extensive downtime and who wish to see subtle, natural-looking results may also be candidates. Many individuals who choose this procedure:
- Have loose, sagging skin or excess fat in the buttocks.
- Have recently experienced dramatic weight loss.
- Feel self-conscious due to their excess skin and fat in the gluteal area.
- Are at a relatively stable weight close to their goal weight.

What to Expect
A Brazilian Butt Lift uses fat transfer to augment the size of the buttocks. This means that fat is removed from another area of the body with excess fat cells, and re-injected into the buttocks. The first step to a Brazilian butt Lift is liposuction, which is performed through very small incisions. A thin tube called a cannula connected to a surgical vacuum will be used to suction out excess fat. This fat is then processed and added into syringes that are connected to a cannula. Small injections of this fat will then be placed in the buttocks to augment its shape and size.
Following your Brazilian Butt Lift procedure, you may experience bruising, redness, and discomfort. Pain is usually minimal and can be easily controlled with pain medication. It is important that patients avoid sitting directly on their buttocks for about two weeks. This means that you will have to sleep on your stomach or side to help ensure optimal outcomes. Dr. Howland will let you know when you are ready to sit on a “donut” pillow or sit with a pillow under your thighs to avoid direct pressure on the buttocks. Most patients can return to normal sitting within about eight weeks. Light activities can often be resumed after one week, and patients can return to work within 10-14 days. Be sure to follow Dr. Howland’s specific post-op instructions to ensure optimal results.
Results from a Brazilian Butt Lift are immediately visible, with final results becoming apparent after about a year. This is because it takes a while for the fat the “take” and for swelling to go down. Because a Brazilian butt lift involves using the patient’s own fat, the initial augmentation that you experience right after the procedure may lessen as fat is absorbed back into the body. Results may change due to weight gain or loss.

How long will my results last?
Results from a Brazilian Butt Lift are long-lasting, and most patients can enjoy their results for up to 20 years. After treatment, a portion of the injected fat is naturally absorbed into the body, while a portion also stays and remains. Natural aging may change the shape of the buttocks, however, keeping a stable body weight can help to prolong results.
How much does a Brazilian Butt Lift cost?
Pricing ranges depending on the amount of change desired and how much liposuction is performed. Payment can be discussed during your consultation appointment with Dr. Howland.
Can very thin people undergo a Brazilian Butt Lift?
Individuals with low levels of body fat may not be good candidates for this procedure. This is because they may not have an adequate amount of fat at the donor sites needed to collect fat cells for the procedure. The best way to determine if this procedure is right for you is through a consultation.
What is the difference between butt implants and a Brazilian Butt Lift?
A Brazilian Butt lift uses the patient’s own fat to create shapelier buttocks. This technique also allows for more natural results. Butt implants use implants that are inserted into the buttocks, which may require a longer recovery time and has a higher risk of infection.
Which areas of the body is fat often harvested from for a Brazilian Butt Lift?
Using liposuction, fat can be collected from a number of areas of the body. Common areas often include the abdomen, hips, inner thighs, and arms. Our team will create an individualized treatment plan for you to help ensure a balanced and proportionate figure.
What are the risks involved with a Brazilian Butt Lift?
When performed by a skilled plastic surgeon such as Dr. Howland, the risk of serious complications after this procedure is rare. Most complications are minor and temporary, and may include swelling, scarring, or infection. You can greatly reduce your risk of complications by following your given post-op instructions.
Can a Brazilian Butt Lift be reversed?
While a Brazilian Butt Lift is meant to produce long-lasting results, revisions can be made by removing some of the transferred fat using liposuction.
