Who is a Candidate for a Neck Lift?

If you are a healthy individual and have a realistic expectation for your neck lift, you may be a candidate. There are many factors that may cause the diminishing appearance of a youthful neck contour, including skin aging, genetics, gravity, and even stress. Discussing your aesthetic goals during your consultation with Dr. Howland will determine your candidacy.

What to Expect

Depending on your desired results, your neck lift could include a traditional neck lift incision or limited neck lift incisions. The traditional method often starts at the hairline and runs down around the ear to the posterior hair. Limited incisions, use a small incision which will be recommended if applicable for decreased scarring and quicker healing time.

Once the neck lift incisions are made, Dr. Howland carefully redistributes or sculpts the underlying tissue and fat during the neck contouring phase of the procedure. Additionally, platysma muscles are generally tightened to smooth the full length of the neck. After the removal of excess skin and fat of the neck, sutures close the incisions for proper healing.
